Infection Prevention and Control: our service

Leicestershire County Council is part of the Local Authority Community Infection Prevention and Control Service (LACIPCS) for Leicestershire County, Leicester City and Rutland County Councils.

When you call the LACIPCS, a member of the Business Support Team will answer your call and take a brief message. The information will then be passed onto an infection prevention and control nurse who will telephone you as soon as possible.

Should you need to contact Public Health England (formerly the Health Protection Agency / Unit), telephone 0344 225 4524 option 1. A duty officer is available 24 hours a day Monday to Sunday. All outbreaks of infection should be reported on this number.

If you are concerned that a resident/service user has an infection you should contact their GP in the first instance.
