Job description:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Early Years Educator to join our friendly early years team this September. The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, caring and fun individual who is dedicated to providing exceptional care and education to pre-school children. The position requires you work as part of a team to support all the children at the setting in addition to planning activities and assessing the key children assigned to you.
Main duties:
To effectively deliver the EYFS ensuring that the individual needs and interests of children in the setting are met (in conjunction with other team members). To act as a key person to a small group of children, liaising closely and building an effective relationship with parents/carers and ensuring each child's needs are recognised and met. To keep records of key children’s development and learning journeys and share with parents, carers and other key adults in the child’s life. Support all staff and engage in a good staff team. To help to set up the setting for the daily programme and to help tidy away at the end of the session. To liaise closely with parents/carers, informing them about the Playgroup and its curriculum, exchanging information about children's progress and encouraging parents' involvement. To ensure the provision of a high quality environment to meet the needs of individual children having an awareness of any additional needs, family cultures and medical histories.
Experience and qualifications:
Minimum of Level 2 Early Years Education and Childcare qualification, equivalent or above. Knowledge of child development of children from birth to five years and the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). Plus a minimum of two years experience of working with children.
Personal qualities:
An ability to work effectively as part of a team but also be self motivated to complete paperwork and assessments. You must be caring, enthusiastic, fun and a good communicator. Time management and a good work ethic is also expected, whilst understanding that the children are our main focus.
Terms and conditions:
The position is 18.5 hours per week plus holiday & sickness cover. You will be expected to attend termly staff meetings out of work hours along with supporting and attending our twice yearly fundraising events. Along with following our strict guidance on confidentiality.
