Early Years Practitioner

Job description:

To provide a high standard of physical, emotional, social and intellectual care for all children in the nursery.  To give support to other team members throughout the nursery. To work as part of a team in order to provide an enabling environment in which all individual children can play, learn and develop.

Main duties:

Operate a programme of activities that meet the individual needs and interests of children in your area in conjunction with other team members. To keep records of your key children’s development and learning journeys and share this with parents, carers and other key adults in the child’s life.  Support all staff and engage in a good staff team. Liaise with and support parents and other family members.  To be flexible within working practices of the nursery. Be prepared to help where needed, including to undertake certain domestic jobs within the nursery, e.g. preparation of snack meals, cleansing of equipment etc.

Experience and qualifications:

Level 3 or higher in a recognised Childcare Qualification. A good working knowledge of the EYFS and how it works in a Nursery setting. A good level of overall education, with Maths and English to GSCE to level C or above. A wide knowledge of child development. Evidence of skills to observe, plan, assess and review as part of the Key Person system.

Personal qualities:

Exceptional team working skills and ability to work both by self and with others, being able to think on your feet and problem solve. Ability to take direction and undertake in house and external training, as required.

Job offer will be dependent on two suitable references and a clear DBS check. Face to face interview will be required and probationary periods discussed.
