Job description:
Lead and manage nursery for children 0–5, ensuring high standards of care, safety, and education.
Implement EYFS framework and maintain compliance with Ofsted, safeguarding, and Health & Safety regulations.
Recruit, train, and supervise staff; organise rotas, appraisals, and professional development.
Plan and oversee activities to support children’s social, emotional, and educational development.
Engage with parents/carers, maintain records, and organise events and communications.
Promote the nursery, act as ambassador, and support community outreach and fundraising.
Main duties:
Manage daily nursery operations, ensuring safety, compliance, and high standards of care. Lead and support staff through recruitment, training, and performance management.
Plan and oversee activities that promote children’s development and wellbeing.
Maintain records, manage budgets, and ensure efficient use of resources.
Engage with parents, carers, and the community to support the nursery’s reputation and growth.
Experience and qualifications:
Level 3 qualification in childcare.
Knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.
Understanding of safeguarding, health & safety, and Ofsted requirements.
Proven experience in managing a nursery or early years setting.
Personal qualities:
Strong leadership and team management skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for staff, parents, and the community.
Highly organised, with strong administrative and problem-solving abilities.
Passionate about children’s development, welfare, and education.
Terms and conditions:
The role is subject to a probationary period of six months with a formal review will be conducted after three months to assess progress, suitability, and development needs.
