Job description:

To work as a member of a team at a newly opened setting in a rural area on a farm environment. To undertake "Farm School" training as delivered by the management team. To ensure all children attending the setting receive high quality care are kept safe and receive rich, safe and stimulating play experiences to meet their individual needs. Observe support and extend children learning through planning appropriately for children using the Early Years Foundation Stage 2024. Ensure children are kept safe and that staff understand and when necessary follow safeguarding policies & procedures. Be a key person carrying out all related responsibilities in building relationships with a small group of children and their families. Work with area SENCOS, EYFS advisors, health professionals and local Sure Start programmes as appropriate. Develop & maintain highly professional working relationships with advisory teachers, schools, area SENCOS and other agencies that may visit the setting.

Main duties:

*  To work as a key person, and member of the nursery team to provide safe, high quality education and care for young children. 


*  To have full regard to and follow the requirements of the Statutory Guidance for the Early Years Foundation Stage. 


* To work within and communicate with others in our Early Years Team, supporting the planning and implementation of activities with individual or groups of children; promoting effective teaching and learning. 


* To be part of our Early Years Team that provides a purposeful, stimulating environment rich in learning opportunities, both indoors and outdoors. 


* To promote the inclusion of all children. 


*  To use professional knowledge of the individual and diverse ways that children 
learn and develop, to meet their differing needs. 


*  To establish positive and sensitive relationships with children. 


*  To act as a role model and set achievable expectations. 


* To be responsible for organising the environment inside and outside to ensure 
that resources and equipment are available and appropriate to meet the needs of the individual children in the group. These activities will take into account children’s abilities interests, language and cultural backgrounds. 


*  Make regular observations of children to ascertain which activities are best suited to needs of individual children in the group. 


*  Plan and participate through teaching activities ‘In The Moment’ which develop each child/children in the group to her/his fullest potential. 


*  Record as required details of children’s developmental progress, attendance, and care routines (i.e. children’s records, online learning journal, care sheet and register) 


*  To know and understand the EYFS framework 


* To liaise closely with parents /carers, informing them about the nursery and its 
delivery of the EYFS, exchanging information about the children’s progress and 
encouraging parental involvement. 


*  Provide a safe and healthy environment at all times for all children in the group, 
reporting any concerns with regards to the premises, outdoor area or 
equipment to the Nursery Manager or Deputy Nursery Manager. 


*  To have a knowledge of and adhere to all Health and Safety Regulations. 


*  To keep completely confidential any information regarding the children, their 
families or other staff members.

Experience and qualifications:

Completion of a recognised Level 3 Childcare qualification or above To know and understand the EYFS (Jan, 2024) framework. To know and understand Prevent Duty, FGM, CSE To have a knowledge of and adhere to all Health and Safety Regulations. Safeguarding Awareness Paediatric First Aid

Terms and conditions:

This role is subject to an enhanced DBS check. Subject to a minimum of 2 suitable references. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. Applicants must be prepared to disclose any convictions they may have and any orders which have been made against them.
