We successfully delivered our first ever public assembly at County Hall. The aims of the public assembly were to hear about local, real life, lived experiences from the participants relating to the wider determinants of health and to identify any we may have missed and need to consider. This data will be used to help steer us when setting the HDRC research priorities for the year.
The event was attended by a diverse range of Leicestershire residents and community representatives. Rich conversations took place throughout all the discussion rooms, and we collected a lot of data through these discussions and the comment boards placed throughout the space. Participants from the day shared that the day was “well paced, well structured and very informative” whilst others valued “being heard and being involved”.
Following this event, we are delivering similar workshops in three schools across Leicestershire to gain young people’s voice on the same topic. Once we have collated all the data, we will analyse the findings to generate key themes, gain public comments, and this will be used when setting the Leicestershire HDRC’s research priorities.
We will host a public assembly every year as an additional way to get the public involved in HDRC projects. Please follow us on our journey to get involved in future events and to stay updated on the HDRC's work.
