Explanation

Schools need to pay the first £6,000 towards each pupil's additional support costs. If pupils start or leave part way through the school year this will be pro-rata'd for the number of school days that the pupil is on roll.

A large number of pupils start or leave at the end of each school year and so this spreadsheet shows the amount that schools will need to contribute if a pupil leaves at the end of the summer term (September starter) or starts at the beginning of the Autumn term (July leaver).

July leaver and September starter comparison
  Number days paid 2013/14 payment
July leaver 64 2,021
September starter 126 3,979

If a pupil leaves or starts on other days the support costs will be calculated at £31.58 per day for each day that the pupil is on roll.
