Adoption UK’s Adoption Barometer

Adoption UK have launched the surveys for their third annual Adoption Barometer, which are open for completion by adopters, prospective adopters and adopted adults until 28th February.

There are two surveys this year:

  • the main Barometer survey (for prospective adopters and adoptive parents)
  • an additional survey for adopted young people and adults aged 16+, to help us explore the tricky transition from adolescence to adulthood

Last year 5,000 people responded to the survey. Armed with those responses, a report was produced which was used extensively within and outside the adoption sector, quoted by decision makers and widely covered in the media.

This year everyone’s worlds have been turned upside down by the pandemic; it has thrown the challenges and joys of adoptive parenting into sharp focus. This year, Adoption UK are hoping that even more people will take 20 minutes to help decision makers understand what life is really like for adoptive families.
