NIHR Health Determinants Research Collaboration Leicestershire

The Leicestershire Health Determinants Research Collaboration (HDRC) is based within Leicestershire County Council. We are working together with our local universities, communities and other partners to improve community health and wellbeing by using research to support evidence-based decision making.

Health inequalities are impacted by many factors in our surroundings such as where we live, our education, employment, and relationships – these are also known as wider determinants of health.

Research into those determinants is key to discovering how we can improve population health and reduce inequalities through the services we deliver and our wider role in the community.

Our vision

Our vision is to achieve health equity in Leicestershire for a more prosperous and healthy population.

Our aim

Our aim is to fully embed a culture of evidence generation and evidence-based decision making across the authority and develop health-promoting policy and services that enable Leicestershire’s residents to thrive.
