George's Marvellous Medicine

On Saturday 20th January, the Virtual School visited the Curve Theatre in Leicester to see a brilliant production of George's Marvellous Medicine.

Roald Dahl's tale of George and the potion he made for his grumpy grandma was brought to life in a lively performance with music, dancing, a giant chicken and a few bangs and flashes as the potions were mixed! There was plenty of audience participation and our group of 14 children joined in as we helped George remember the ingredients he needed. The children all really enjoyed the show - and the free ice creams during the interval, saying:

"I liked the bit where the Grandma came in on the motorcycle"

"The play was funny"

"I liked the whoopee cushion bit!"

"I liked the whole thing"

Leicestershire Matters

We held workshops across Leicestershire schools to hear about young people's priorities within their local areas to support community health and wellbeing.

The HDRC Leicestershire Research to Reality training series concluded a successful year in September with 94 attendees across the four-session series.

We have filled the final spot on our Public Advisory Group (PAG), forming a diverse panel of eight members. This is an important step towards ensuring our work is informed by a broad range of public voices and lived experiences.

Young people in three Leicestershire schools will have the opportunity to have their say in the future of health research and meet a Great British Bake Off star as part of a new project.

Health Determinants Research Collaboration (HDRC) Leicestershire hosted its first event with members of the public in March 2025.

We're introducing a series of learning sessions to help improve research skills.
