Year 7 Activity Day at Beaumanor Hall

On Sunday 14th October, the Virtual School invited children in Year 7, who have just started secondary school, to an activity day at Beaumanor Hall. As well as having fun, this gave them an opportunity to meet the Virtual School youth workers and to voice their ideas about future participation events, PEP meetings and transitions from primary to secondary school.

Despite the very wet weather, the group got stuck into the activities, which involved trying something new and overcoming challenges. During the morning they challenged themselves to the rock climbing wall, zip wire and quick jump.

In the afternoon, the children and staff worked together to complete a bridge-building challenge. This involved using fine motor skills to practise tying knots and making a bridge that would withstand everyone's weight in  order to cross the brook.

The group behaved amazingly well throughout the day, supported each other and hopefully made some new friends. Despite the wet weather they didn't let anything dampen their spirits! We'll done!
